Community Colleges & Workforce Development

The term "workforce development" refers to the efforts of both private and governmental agencies to help individuals improve their earning potential and train for gainful employment. As an integral part of workforce development, community colleges often offer classes in job skills and training programs for professional certificates. In addition to providing job training, many community colleges serve as one-stop training centers that refer individuals to other agencies involved in workforce development. Because they are attuned to local needs, community colleges are ideally suited to promote workforce development.
